Charlotte Douglas International Airport just got tastier. HMSHost and its partners opened new local and national brands as part of the airport’s new The Plaza.

Among the new options greeting CLT travelers starting today are North Carolina-based craft brewery Wicked Weed Brewing, and the popular modern day “roadside” burger stand Shake Shack. The openings mark the first locations inside Charlotte Airport for both brands. This is Wicked Weed’s first airport location and offers travelers at least 15 of its unique, award-winning craft beers, plus travelers can purchase a variety of Wicked Weed beers to-go to enjoy at their final destination.

In addition to Wicked Weed and Shake Shack, HMSHost’s Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) partners opened new food choices for CLT travelers at The Plaza which is located at the intersection of Concourses D and E. These include:

  • Potbelly – this is the first CLT Airport location for the sandwich shop, and is operated by HMSHost’s ACDBE partner Denard Enterprises.
  • Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits – this popular Charlotte-based restaurant now has a second location inside CLT Airport. Travelers can get their chicken and biscuit fix at this new The Plaza location that is operated by HMSHost’s ACDBE partner FDY Inc.
  • Auntie Anne’s – CLT travelers now have a second location to enjoy these signature pretzels and travel ready snacks. This new location is operated by HMSHost’s ACDBE partner Ewing-Dunn.

“HMSHost is honored to be a part of Destination CLT, as we continue to add exciting local and national favorites for world travelers. The new additions represent a great mix of choices that enrich the Charlotte Douglas dining experience,” says HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Stephen Douglas. “Along with our partners, HMSHost continues to showcase the region’s food and drink culture in the concourses. North Carolina is a craft beer hub and we’re reflecting that at Charlotte Douglas with the opening of Wicked Weed’s first airport location.”

“Wicked Weed is very excited to partner with HMSHost on this collaboration project. It has always been our goal to provide unique retail experiences, partnered with the best beer, in amazing locations. With a continued focus to grow our brand locally and become the “Brewery of the Carolinas“ the Charlotte Airport will provide us the opportunity to interact and share our beer with millions of fans every year,” says Ryan Guthy, Founder Wicked Weed Brewing.
