Chef and Owner Gabriele Bonci of Rome-based Bonci Pizza will open the doors to his newest outpost location in New Orleans this June. The new location will add cultural flare to the already eclectic hotspot of the Arts District. Located at 730 Julia Street, diners will be able to appreciate pizza as an art form with the al-taglio style offerings.

Chef Bonci opened Pizzarium Bonci in Rome in 2003 using three-ingredient dough, three-ingredient pies, and a pair of scissors to serve guests. Pizza selections rotate daily with offerings based on the season. Signature pizza selections include: Meatball, Sopressata, Zucchini Ricotta Lemon Black Pepper and Potato Mozzarella. In addition to pizza, guests can expect to find Rome’s staple street food, Suppli.

In honor of the big move down the Mississippi, Chef Bonci has commemorated the spirit of the city with his take on the classic Muffuletta. The proprietary dough will transform from pizza base to sandwich bun to encase the staple ingredients of the sandwich.

“We are excited to open Bonci in New Orleans because of the city’s vibrant energy and exciting culinary scene,” says Chef/Owner Gabriele Bonci. “The city is packed with so much history and we look forward to sharing Roman style pizza with visitors and guests alike. ”

The restaurant is located in the thriving Arts District and will house 50 seats.

Bonci Pizza first opened its doors in 2003 in Rome. The first location outside of Italy opened in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood in 2017 with a second Chicago location following in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood in 2018. The pizzeria specializes in Roman-style al taglio pizza that is sliced with scissors and sold by the weight with ever-changing toppings.
