Bowl of Heaven is adding two new super fruits to its menu with the introduction of the Paradise Bowl: pitaya or dragon fruit from Nicaragua and prickly pear, both of which grow on cacti.

Pitaya is a fruit that was first discovered in Central America. Early missionaries brought it to Asia where it has since been renamed and is more commonly known as dragon fruit. Bowl of Heaven’s suppliers will be sourcing the fruit directly from Central American farmers.

Prickly pear is said to be rich in betalains, the antioxidants that support healthy inflammation response. For thousands of years, the people of Meso-American have used the Nopal cactus, on which prickly pear grows, as a source of food, water, and herbal medicine.

“We are thrilled to be the first fast-casual chain to offer such a nutrient dense combination, and one with powerful inflammation-fighting ingredients,” says Bowl of Heaven founder, Dan McCormick.

In addition to the pitaya fruit and the prickly pear, the Paradise Bowl also includes Bowl of Heaven’s signature Maq7 superfruit juice, coconut water, pineapple, peaches, bananas, mint leaves, and a hint of watermelon stevia, topped with hemp seed granola, shredded coconut, kiwi, and strawberries with a drizzle of honey.
