As reported by Just-food.com: Burger King, the quick-service arm of UK drinks conglomerate Diageo, is set to exit Australia. The group is considering selling its hamburger business to a local franchisee, Jack Cowin.

Cowin, owner of most of the 198-outlet Hungry Jack’s chain, flew to BK’s Miami head office to talk about buying its Australian outlets.

If the sale goes ahead, it will put an end to BK’s four-year plan to scoop a share of the nation’s fast food market. Diageo officials declined to comment.
