This May, popular fast casual chain California Tortilla will open a new location in the recently remodeled L’Enfant Plaza food court, bringing its imaginative Mexican menu to downtown DC’s hungry lunch crowd. California Tortilla will join popular lunch options like Potbelly and Roti in L’Enfant Plaza’s East Food Court.

Since the first store opened in 1995 in Bethesda, Maryland, the fast casual concept built a name for itself with fresh Mexican fare, creative promotions, and a unique personality, developing a loyal fan base of “Cal-Torters,” (aka Burrito Elitos), in the DC area and beyond. This will be the 46th California Tortilla location company-wide, and the 27th restaurant in the DC metro-area.

To celebrate their grand opening later this month, the store will be giving out free chips and queso to customers all day long.  The first 20 customers in line that morning will win free burritos for a whole year.

“In recent years, we’ve seen tremendous growth, expanding up and down the East Coast into new markets — but DC will always be our home,” says Robert Phillips, president, California Tortilla. “We couldn’t be more excited to open another California Tortilla restaurant right in the heart of downtown Washington DC.”

The L’Enfant Plaza location will operate from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The restaurant seats 30, with additional seating throughout the East Food Court.
