Capriotti’s Fights Hunger in Las Vegas

Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop is partnering with The Las Vegas Rescue Mission to collect canned items for the Hunger Doesn’t Take A Summer Vacation Food Drive running from May 1–23. All Capriotti’s locations in Las Vegas will be accepting non-perishable food donations in specially marked bins and fans who donate five or more items will receive a free small to medium sandwich upsize. All donations will be collected by The Las Vegas Rescue Mission and distributed to local families and children in need.

Many Las Vegas children depend on federally funded school lunches and when school is not in session during summer vacation, they may go hungry without the regularly scheduled meals. Capriotti’s is making it a priority to raise awareness for those children who might otherwise have no choice but to regularly skip essential meals. Capriotti’s is committed to bringing attention to this serious issue and the company’s corporate team will be serving their iconic subs on May 23 to the students at Kit Carson Elementary. Four additional elementary schools including Matt Kelly Elementary, Mabel Hoggard Elementary, Kermit Booker Elementary, and Wendell Williams Elementary will also receive catered Capriotti’s lunches at the end of the month.

“Child hunger is a growing problem in the Las Vegas area, and with Hunger Doesn’t Take A Summer Vacation, we hope to raise awareness and make a difference in our community,” says Ashley Morris, CEO of Capriotti’s. “Our Thanksgiving Food Drive with The Las Vegas Rescue Mission last year helped over 2,000 local families and we cannot wait to recreate that success, this time with a focus on local children in need.”
