Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop is partnering with The Las Vegas Rescue Mission to launch a city-wide summer food drive to benefit local at-risk school children. The Summer Meals for Kids Food Drive will run from May 1 to May 29 at all Capriotti’s locations in the Las Vegas area. Non-perishable food donations can be placed in specially marked bins and guests who donate five or more items will receive a 9” to 12” sandwich upsize.

Many Las Vegas children depend on government-funded lunch programs to receive the proper nutrition they need when school is in session. During summer vacation, this program is temporarily halted and these children have limited access to essential meals. Capriotti’s is dedicated to raising awareness to this serious issue and all donations will be collected for The Las Vegas Rescue Mission who will then distribute to local children in need. Capriotti’s employees are also doing their part by volunteering and donating catered lunches to local elementary schools at the end of the month.

“With the help of the community and our loyal fans, we raised over 3,000 pounds of food last summer,” says Ashley Morris, CEO of Capriotti’s. “This year, we hope to surpass that amount in order to provide more local children with nutritious meals so no child will go hungry this summer.”

“There are approximately 300,000 people in Clark County that are food insecure and we strive to not only lower that number, but to also raise awareness in our community on this issue,” says John Fogal, director of development at The Las Vegas Rescue Mission. “We have experienced great success in partnering with Capriotti’s, especially because they have such an enormous presence in the Las Vegas area, and we are grateful to be able to work with them once again this summer.”
