Captain D’s, a leading fast casual seafood restaurant, announced the opening of its newest franchised restaurant in McDonough, Georgia. Located at 530 Highway 81 East, this new restaurant marks the brand’s 99th location in the state and emphasizes Captain D’s accelerated franchise and corporate development plans for Georgia. The McDonough restaurant will celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday, May 24, starting with a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m.
The new McDonough restaurant, which showcases the brand’s remodeled beach design, is owned and operated by franchisees Mike Munshi, Shamana Momin and Sajid Patharwala. The group has nearly seven decades of combined experience in the restaurant and franchising industries, and have owned and operated several successful Dairy Queen franchises since the 1990s.
“As franchise owners and industry veterans, my partners and I know a good opportunity when we see one. When we were introduced to Captain D’s, we were immediately impressed with the compounding success the brand has continually achieved over the past several years, and knew it was the right fit for us,” says Mike Munshi, Captain D’s franchisee. “While the restaurant business is ever-changing, Captain D’s has remained a leader due to its willingness to evolve and invest in its product, making it a franchise opportunity with unlimited potential for success. We are proud to be a part of the brand and are excited to bring Captain D’s freshly prepared seafood to the McDonough community.”
The opening of the location in McDonough comes on the heels of the outstanding success Captain D’s experienced in 2016, achieving its sixth consecutive year of same store sales increases and fourth successive year of record high system-wide AUV. This ongoing success has propelled Captain D’s franchise development efforts and nationwide growth, with agreements signed to open an additional 25 new restaurants this year in states across the country including Florida, South Carolina, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas and Virginia.
Coupled with its ongoing menu innovation, Captain D’s credits its new restaurant beach design with contributing to the brand’s compounding success. To date, nearly 60 percent of all restaurants have been reimaged to the brand’s new vibrant, coastal design, with another 50 locations to be remodeled by the end of this year. With these efforts, Captain D’s has remained true to what it does best—serving high-quality seafood with warm hospitality at an affordable price in a welcoming atmosphere.
With 515 restaurants in 21 states, Captain D’s is the fast-casual seafood leader and number one seafood franchise in America ranked by average unit volume. The company is currently seeking single- and multi-unit operators to join in the brand’s rapid expansion.
