Caribou Coffee was the only coffee to receive an “excellent” rating in Consumer Reports‘ December issue, finishing first when compared to 42 brews. The company’s whole-bean Colombian coffee bested other coffeehouse chains and store-bought brands.
According to Consumer Reports, a high-quality Columbian coffee should have a smooth, balanced flavor with floral and earthy notes and a pleasing acidity. Caribou was the only blend that rated well in each of these categories. Ratings are based on blind taste tests by two coffee experts.
“It’s one thing to brag that you have the best coffee,” Caribou Coffee chief exec Michael Coles said. “It’s quite another to have a respected magazine say it too.”
