On Jan. 27, Hooters of Uptown Charlotte will host a luncheon for representatives of three Carolina Food Banks to donate $13,000 that the 19 area Hooters restaurants raised for the organizations during the past two months. The event will take place at 3 p.m. in the Hooters located at 123 W. Trade St.

“Outside of just collecting nonperishable items, the Hooters Girls really took initiative raising money for the cause,” says Skip Pray, regional manager for Hooters of America, Inc. “The girls held bake sales, raffles, and even gift wrapped during the holidays.”

The nonperishable food items the restaurants collected and already donated accounted for approximately 1,500 meals for the food banks over the holidays. Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina are the three local organizations benefiting from the fundraising event.
