Chef Cary Taylor of Chicago hotspot The Southern has released his first patented kitchen storage product, the 1-Quart ModPan.
Taylor developed ModPans to be affordable, space-saving, efficient, and useable directly on the line. Already tested and in some of Chicago’s finest kitchens, ModPans are distributed through TriMark Marlinn and available through the company’s website immediately.
ModPans, LLC., is Taylor’s creation and was born out of his burden of constantly needing to upgrade kitchen wares and equipment on an extremely limited budget.
ModPans are an economical and functional solution to a myriad of commercial kitchen inventory problems. ModPans utilize the same material as the commonly used “deli” cup, but molded them in the fashion of existing ninth, sixth, and third pans, which are used directly on commercial kitchen lines.
ModPans cut down on food waste, maximize storage capabilities within even the smallest confines, and provide the customer with a clean and efficient measuring device for inventory control. They are stackable, tested for durability by Hobart, and made of BPA-free material.
In August 2010, Taylor began designing a polypropylene container that would be measured exactly in American standard and metric volume units, have an easy sealing lid, and perhaps most importantly, are a fraction of the price of existing similar containers that provide the same function.
ModPans, LLC., finalized and patented its first container designs, a 1-quart rectangular "ninth" pan and a 2-quart square "sixth" pan and began sample production. ModPans has since filed patents for a 4-quart “third” pan as well.
