CLEAR, a secure biometric identity platform, and Founders Table, the restaurant group that includes Chopt and Dos Toros, announced a partnership to help keep employees and the community safe as their restaurants begin to reopen. The pilot starts with the reopening of a Chopt in Washington, D.C. and a Dos Toros in New York City, where more than 30 employees will use “Health Pass by CLEAR” as part of their daily health screening process.
The restaurant industry was hit harder than any other during the pandemic, with over eight million employees laid off or furloughed in the first two months of the crisis. A recent study by Zagat and the James Beard Foundation found that Americans remain overwhelmingly hesitant to return to restaurants — even after government reopening — until risk-reducing safety measures are installed. Zagat’s CEO theorized that certain safety measures could compound restaurants’ existing financial pain. While the industry has begun the long, slow road to recovery, “Health Pass by CLEAR” can help restaurants not only reopen, but do so safely and easily.
“Health Pass by CLEAR” is a new mobile tool that seamlessly and securely connects a person’s identity to multiple layers of COVID-related insights to help reduce public health risk and restore peace of mind. Beginning with a real-time health quiz, Health Pass will eventually link with trusted lab partners to connect test results and with CLEAR’s thermal hardware for temperature checks.
“CLEAR was created to address a major public need following 9/11. Now, with the introduction of Health Pass, we are helping businesses and restaurants leverage technology to safely bring back their frontline employees,” says CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker. “We are proud to partner with Chopt and Dos Toros restaurants to help put people first by creating safer environments for their hard working teams.”
“We are thrilled to partner with CLEAR on this groundbreaking program that gives both our employees and customers the peace of mind they need during these challenging times,” says Chopt and Dos Toros Chief Marketing Officer Julie Atkinson. “The health and safety of our customers and employees remains our number one priority.”
The partnership was designed with flexibility to make it possible to layer other screening elements as additional locations open over time. CLEAR most recently announced a partnership with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum where “Health Pass by CLEAR” is being used to screen employees in order to safely open the grounds to visitors.
CLEAR is a leader in biometric identity and access with more than 5 million users and 65+ locations across the United States. We already link identity with different information sets including, credit card, frequent flyer number, flight manifest, health care identification, driver’s license and passport. CLEAR’s data security framework meets the highest standards for performance and for protecting sensitive information – FISMA High and SAFETY Act certified by the Department of Homeland Security. CLEAR never sells or shares an individual’s information.
How It Works: Health Pass Makes it Easy to Create Safer Environments
Enroll, Verify and you are good to go.
1. Enroll: Download the CLEAR app from Google Play or the Apple App Store and enroll in Health Pass for free by creating a CLEAR account and verifying your identity.
2. Connect: Beginning later in July, link relevant Covid-related insights, such as test results, through one of CLEAR’s trusted lab partners.
3. Verify Identity: Before you enter a building or venue, open the CLEAR app and snap a selfie to prove you are you.
4. On-Site Touchless Access: Approach a CLEAR pod where you can use your face or a QR code to share your verified status and check your temperature to gain touchless access. The employer or venue only receives confirmation that you have satisfied their requirements for access with the equivalent of a red light or green light signal and never has access to your private health details.
