Chronic Tacos recently signed a multi-unit franchise agreement for the state of Colorado, which calls for 12 locations over the next five years.

Leading the franchise’s expansion in Colorado are local entrepreneurs Tom King and Tony Kerrigone, who plan to open the first restaurant in September 2015. The long-time friends are also looking at sites in the Denver Metro area and anticipate opening the two additional restaurants within the next year.

With a long career on Wall Street, King and Kerrigone sought a change in their lifestyle and professional futures. King says, “There is really no other place like Chronic Tacos in the area where locals can get such a wide variety of amazing, authentic Mexican food—especially baja-style fish and shrimp. Tony has been familiar with Chronic Tacos since its early days and was impressed with the founder’s passion and hands-on involvement with their franchise owners. So when we began considering owning a restaurant franchise, we knew we had to join the Chronic Tacos family.”

Chronic Tacos was founded in 2002 by Randy Wyner, a serial entrepreneur and Newport Beach, California, local.

Today, the fast-casual franchise has more than 30 locations in operation and is further expanding throughout the western half of North America with separate multi-unit franchise agreements for three locations in Washington State and two in Phoenix Arizona. Chronic Tacos is also breaking into the East Coast with a multi-unit franchise agreement for four locations in North Carolina. All told, company plans call for more than 10 new locations in 2015.

“Tom and Tony’s passion for the brand is outstanding,” says Michael Mohammed, CEO of Chronic Tacos. “We are confident that this passion will spread enthusiasm and create loyal Chronic Tacos fans throughout the Denver area. Colorado is a pivotal next step in our national growth initiative, as we continue expanding toward the East Coast with great multi-unit franchise partners like Tom and Tony.”

The eclectic Chronic Tacos menu features third-generation, authentic Mexican recipes and encourages customers to customize their orders. With all fresh, locally sourced ingredients made in house daily from scratch, each restaurant offers burritos, tostada bowls, tortas, taquitos, flautas, salads, and tacos, including a breakfast menu all day. Customers can choose from carne asada (steak), pollo asado (chicken), carnitas (slow-cooked pork), al pastor (spicy marinated pork), and fresh pico de gallo and guacamole. Seafood lovers can also order grilled, beer-battered, or baja-style fish and shrimp. Rounding out the menu, Chronic Tacos offers a variety of Mexican beers, sodas, and a popular Mexican favorite, horchata.
