The team at Colada Shop is proud to announce the opening of its fourth reincarnation in Potomac, Maryland, this coming Friday, April 23. Paying homage to the Caribbean way of doing coffee, food, cocktails and social lifestyle, Colada Shop is a casual café and eatery where guests come for the quality of offerings and the unmatched hospitality.  The new location will be situated in 7993 Tuckerman Lane Potomac, MD at the Cabin John Village.

“When we heard about the opportunity to bring our concept to this historic neighborhood, our hearts skipped a beat,” says Daniella Senior, CEO and co-founder of Colada Shop.  “It was a very quick and challenging turnaround, but our team thrives in this kind of excitement and has become an expert in navigating uncharted scenarios. We are proud to be able to bring our Caribbean concept to Cabin John and become part of such an iconic and booming area.”

The inaugural celebration will keep guests in motion  from 5 PM – 8 PM with live music from the renowned local Latin band, Quimbao, which will play a variety of tunes including jazz, salsa, merengue, bachata, and Latin rock.

In sync with the sister locations, this venue will offer a first-come-first-serve seating system and follow COVID-19 safety guidelines. Nevertheless, for those who like to plan their meal outings, a limited number of tables will be available for reservations in the coming weeks through Tock.

Like the other D.C. locations, this menu will include a wide variety of year-round classic and reinterpreted Cuban bites complemented by new dishes Plantain Latkes – green plantains, onions, cured salmon, cilantro-chive crema with mojito cured salmon; Platanachos – our homemade version of nachos with homemade plantain chips, black bean dip, choice of roasted pork, sofrito chicken or roasted cauliflower & mushroom, pickled red onions, and cotija; and Ropa Vieja Stuffed Tostones – fried plantain cups filled with ropa vieja, avocado, pickled red onion and salsa verde.  Food items will be priced between $3.50 and $14.50.

The beverage program will feature rum-focused classic and original cocktails priced between $10 and $13.50.  Guests can anticipate a selection of favorites such as the Piña Colada (white rum, coconut cream, pineapple, lime); Mojito (white rum, lime, cane sugar syrup, mint, soda); Cascara Cuba Libre (dark rum, Mexican coke, cascara bitters); as well as seasonal additions such as Sorrel del Caribe (aged rum, hibiscus-cherry cordial, velvet falernum and lime) and Umeshu a lo Cubano (gold rum, umeshu plum wine, lemon bitters, tonic).

Central to Colada Shop will be the Cuban-inspired coffee menu which will include an array of caffeinated drinks such as the typical Cuban coffee, the Colada, which is 4oz of Cuban-style espresso traditionally meant to be shared. Sharing a colada remains a prominent social and cultural activity and is customary of workplace breaks in Cuban communities.  Other coffee drinks offered include Café con Leche – a Latin Latte with a shot of Café Cubano and hot steamed milk; Cortadito – an espresso with a splash of steamed evaporated milk and foam. Coffee drinks will be priced between $3.50 and $6.50.

This will be Colada Shop’s biggest store, seating 80 guests indoors and additional 50 patio seats.  Weaving together a talented partnership, the team collaborated once again with Dominican artist, Kilia Llano to develop the signature outdoor mural.
