As the demand grows for healthier frozen desserts, it should come as no surprise that Cold Stone Creamery is now offering an expanded better-for-you line of smoothies. The concept for these offerings was born in 2007 when Cold Stone Creamery became part of the Kahala Corp family of quick-service restaurant brands, including Blimpie, Great Steak & Potato, and TacoTime, among others. This partnership brought with it the opportunity to share products, ideas, and resources amongst the 12 brands. It soon became clear that Cold Stone Creamery could expand and reformulate the existing smoothie line to offer people new and healthier options.

To do so, Cold Stone Creamery tapped into the NrGize Lifestyle Cafe, which can typically be found inside or near popular health clubs. The lower-in-calorie fruit smoothies offered at NrGize are quickly becoming a favorite meal replacement or pick-me-up option for the health conscious and celebrity set. Cold Stone Creamery has elected to feature eight of the NrGize smoothies in all of the nearly 1,400 locations across the country. The new smoothies, made with real fruit, a proprietary smoothie mix and crushed ice, will be available starting today.

“The addition of the NrGize smoothie line shows that we are responding to the request for additional better-for-you options within our stores,” says Dan Beem, president of Cold Stone Creamery. “At the same time, we are offering a smoothie that is made with quality ingredients and delivering the indulgent taste people expect from Cold Stone Creamery.”

For those Cold Stone Creamery enthusiasts in love with the original line of smoothies, those same combinations will still be available but with nearly twenty-five percent fewer calories.
