CORE was founded in 2004 at a National Restaurant Association Show after-dinner gathering. A group of operators and suppliers discussed the numerous and diverse charities in need, but realized none directly benefitted the community of hospitality employees that are at the heart of the industry.

 

Since then, CORE has raised funds with the help of food and beverage operators, suppliers, and distributors to support wonderful, deserving children and their families. One hundred percent of the funds raised directly benefit children of restaurant employees who have been afflicted with life-threatening conditions or affected by a significant life-altering circumstance.  

 

CORE supports these children by providing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for them and their families. Each recipient is assigned to a CORE Board of Directors member who secures support, facilitates all logistics, and communicates with the family and recipient.

Joe Smith, Monin’s senior vice president sales, has been involved with CORE since the inception. And, in fact, Smith was elected the newest chairman of the board of directors at CORE’s annual board meeting. Together, Monin and Smith have donated over $50,000 to the cause.

Monin continues to be involved through sponsoring an upcoming fundraiser in Las Vegas. On March 19th, Todd English Pub will be hosting Viva Las Vegas Hoppy Hour, a networking beer, wine, and cocktail party benefiting CORE.  Additionally, a silent auction fundraiser will take place on March 20th and 21st during the VIBE Conference at Paris/Bally’s Casino.
