Corner Bakery Cafe, a fast casual restaurant concept known for its ingredient-inspired menu and neighborhood cafe atmosphere, is off to a fast start in the second quarter with the announcement of a 13-location deal for greater Cleveland-area, the brand’s first area development agreement in the state of Ohio. According to the National Restaurant Association (NRA), restaurants are a driving force in Ohio’s economy with a projected $18.3 billion in sales in 2015.

“A stable economy and a community that enjoys food combine to make northeast Ohio the perfect place for us to enter the market,” says Gregg Koffler, vice president of franchise sales for Corner Bakery Cafe. “With the experience of our recently signed team, coupled with the popularity of our existing cafes in the Great Lakes region, our future in Ohio looks very bright.”

Scott Berkowitz, a northeast Ohio native, spearheads Corner Bakery Cafe’s 35th franchise group, which includes Brad Kowit and Steve Overholt. Berkowitz strategically brought the team together to cover all facets of owning and managing a franchise. Kowit’s expertise in retail brokerage and development and Overholt’s extensive restaurant experience with national brands combined with Berkowitz’s consulting and real estate experience makes a well-equipped team.
