Corner Bakery Café announced the results of its annual Share Our Strength’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry campaign in support of Share Our Strength’s goal of ending childhood hunger in America.
Through generous guest donations and team member enthusiasm for the annual company match, Corner Bakery Cafe raised $300,289 in funds that will go toward hunger relief initiatives throughout the country.
A Share Our Strength partner since 2008, this year’s funds push Corner Bakery Cafe’s total contribution to more than $910,000 to date.
More than 16 million children in the U.S.—one in five—struggle with hunger.
Through initiatives that include connecting needy children to effective nutrition programs like School Breakfast and Summer Meals, working with state and local partners to identify and eliminate barriers that can prevent children from accessing programs like these, and educating low-income families on how to stretch their food budgets and cook healthy, affordable meals, Share Our Strength is making sure every child in America gets the food they need.
“Dine Out For No Kid Hungry is a powerful event that brings together restaurants and guests around an issue of paramount importance: the child hunger crisis,” says Diana Hovey, chief marketing officer at Corner Bakery Cafe. “When I walk into one of our cafes and see hundreds of pledges lining the walls—representing all of our guests that contributed to the program—I know that this is an issue that resonates with our Corner Bakery communities and is worth our continued support.”
From September 1–September 23, participating Corner Bakery Cafe locations offered guests two different ways to give: a $1 donation in exchange for a free Whoopee Pie on their next visit, or a $5 donation for a booklet of special offers worth $45.
Each guest that donated was recognized with a special card featuring their name displayed on the walls of their local cafe.
“We are continuously amazed by the generosity and commitment of our Dine Out For No Kid Hungry restaurants and their patrons,” says Bill Shore, founder and CEO of Share Our Strength. “Corner Bakery Cafe has been a valued partner of our organization since 2008, and we know these donations—along with donations from our other partners—are making a significant impact on our goal of ending childhood hunger in America.”
Now in its fifth year, Dine Out For No Kid Hungry has raised more than $4 million for the No Kid Hungry campaign.
Corner Bakery Cafe has been involved since the beginning.
