CUPS Frozen Yogurt – That’s Hot, the beach-themed self-serve fro-yo concept, will celebrate the grand opening of its first Florida location on Thursday, September 26, at Wellington Green Commons, 2605 South State Road 7, #420 in Wellington, Florida. CUPS will open to the public at 5 p.m. and be offering free frozen yogurt from 5 to 8 p.m.

Ed and Dana Alvarez, franchisees of the CUPS in Wellington, are residents of Palm Beach Gardens who have a passion for frozen yogurt and giving back to the community.

CUPS will be donating 15 percent of sales to Place of Hope from September 27-29. Place of Hope is a state-licensed child welfare organization dedicated to providing stable, loving, nurturing environments and support for children and teens in foster care with in Palm Beach County.

Also, during the grand opening week, each Wellington customer will be given a “scratch off” card, which contains prizes such as iPhone covers, blankets, pens, glow-in-the-dark wristbands, and CUPS coupons. One lucky winner will receive free fro-yo for a year.

Since opening the first CUPS in Clifton, New Jersey in 2010, CUPS has taken the fro-yo industry by storm, becoming the local hot spot for teenagers and adults alike who make their own fro-yo concoctions choosing from 24 yogurt flavors and over 50 different toppings and three sauces.

The Exchange, a popular Yahoo Finance blog, recently named CUPS as one of “The Most Popular Fast-Food Outlets You Haven’t Heard Of (Yet).” With 16 locations in New York, New Jersey, California, and now Florida, CUPS has signed more than 12 area development agreements representing approximately 30 franchise units.

According to CUPS co-founder Rick Barbrick, CUPS is much more than great frozen yogurt; CUPS was designed around the experience.

“It’s more of a club like experience. We pump out club dance music at volumes that create a highly energetic vibe, a lounge-type design with couches, ottomans, and eclectic murals; and Cast Members with infectiously fun personalities,” Barbrick says. “It’s the complete experience that gives us that edgy vibe versus an everyday yogurt bar or ice cream shop experience.”

The Wellington CUPS will be open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
