The Dairy Queen system is asking fans to think outside the box this season when it
This year, the Berkshire Hathaway company is offering a new twist to traditional milk and cookies with the new Candy Cane Oreo Blizzard Treat, a must-have holiday treat available at Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill restaurants from now through the month of December.
“We’re turning milk and cookies upside down this season—literally. Why not leave a delicious, refreshing Candy Cane Oreo® Blizzard Treat for that special holiday elf this year?” says Barry Westrum, executive vice president of marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ).
Combining the season’s favorite candy flavor with the tried-and-true milk and cookies duo, the Candy Cane Oreo Blizzard Treat is a sweet, smooth, and crunchy blend of Oreo cookie pieces and peppermint candy bits hand-crafted together with creamy DQ vanilla soft serve. Blizzard Treats are made to order and so thick they are served upside down in four sizes, including the popular Mini. They also can be served in a waffle cone.
“We added some DQ innovation to all of the classic holiday flavor favorites and blended them into one treat that is so creamy we serve it upside down,” Westrum says. “The tastes and textures of the Candy Cane Oreo Blizzard Treat combine for a delight in every bite. This is true DQ ‘Fannovation.’ The best part is our fans can begin enjoying it right now.”
Many Blizzard Treat flavors, including Candy Cane Oreo, can easily be made into DQ Cakes which are perfect for the holiday season and other special events, such as birthdays and anniversaries.
The Dairy Queen system began blending simple combinations of cookies, chocolates, nuts, fruits, and candies with DQ soft serve more than 30 years ago to create the signature Blizzard Treat. The iconic treat has created an upside-down Blizzard culture and since then, one-of-a-kind flavors such as Salted Caramel Truffle and Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Smash have delighted millions of Dairy Queen fans.
