American Dairy Queen Corporation recently announced plans to bring a DQ Grill & Chill restaurant to Waterbury, Connecticut. Set to open in the spring of 2020, the restaurant will be located at 213 Chase Avenue.
The forthcoming DQ Grill & Chill location features a modern, open-air grill, separate “Grill” and “Chill” sections, comfortable booths, large wooden tables, warm lighting and upbeat music. The location will be owned and operated by Rahman Hashimi.
In the past 10 years, Hashimi has opened more than 15 Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurants. His success is attributed to the passion he has for supplying high-quality food and customer service to match – both qualities DQ places much value in. With his strong business acumen and dedication to customer service, Hashimi is eager to begin his journey with the Dairy Queen brand.
“It’s hard not to love the DQ brand and all that it stands for. What draws me in most is its nearly 80-year legacy and commitment to providing the tastiest food and sweetest treats,” says Hashimi. “Spending over 10 years in the restaurant industry, I have learned a lot about what it takes to give customers the best experience from the minute they walk in. I’m excited for the Waterbury community to get a taste of what makes the DQ Grill & Chill experience special.”
What began as the 10-cent sale of an unknown frozen treat in 1938 quickly boomed into one of the most well-known companies of all time. Maintaining its recipe for success throughout nearly 80 years, the Dairy Queen system has more than 7,000 locations worldwide and implementing its plan to add more than 70 new restaurants in the United States for 2020.
The brand is targeting 10 growth markets including: Sacramento, California; Baltimore; Orlando, Florida; Milwaukee; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Memphis, Tennessee; Albany, New York; Fresno, California; Charlotte, North Carolina; and New Orleans. Beyond these U.S. target markets, ADQ is franchising in territories across Canada and other international countries.
