The Dairy Queen system swings into spring with the new Strawberry Shortcake Blizzard Treat as the featured Blizzard of the Month for May.

An indulgent combination of shortcake pieces and strawberries blended with creamy DQ vanilla soft serve and crowned with whipped topping, the Strawberry Shortcake Blizzard Treat is available at all participating Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill restaurants nationwide throughout May.

Strawberry Shortcake Blizzard Treats are available in four sizes, including the popular mini, and also can be served in a waffle cone.

“The most famous shortcake is strawberry shortcake. It is an enduring flavor that we have modernized into our signature treat to create an irresistible fan favorite,” says Barry Westrum, executive vice president of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ).

Many Blizzard Treat flavors, including Strawberry Shortcake, can easily be made into DQ Cakes, which are perfect to celebrate Mother’s Day, graduation, Memorial Day, or other special events such as birthdays and anniversaries.

The Dairy Queen system began blending simple combinations of fruits, cookies, chocolates, nuts, and candies with DQ soft serve in 1985 to create the signature Blizzard Treat. The iconic treat has created the served upside-down Blizzard culture and since then, one-of-a-kind flavors such as S’mores, Chocolate Candy Shop, and Confetti Cake have delighted Dairy Queen fans as part of the featured Blizzard of the Month program, which began in 2003.
