Olo, the leading provider of online and mobile ordering capabilities for the restaurant industry, has appointed world-renowned restaurateur Danny Meyer to its board of directors. Meyer brings a wealth of industry experience to Olo, most notably as founder and CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group, where he is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the company’s portfolio of restaurant brands.
“Olo is enabling fine quality and hospitality at fast food speed and scale, and ultimately providing a better guest experience, which should be a priority for all restaurant operators,” Meyer says. “I look forward to working closely with the Olo board and team to contribute to the strategic direction of the company, particularly as consumer-facing technology plays an increasingly important role for guest experience management.”
“I am honored to welcome Danny to our board,” says Noah Glass, founder and CEO of Olo. “His knowledge of the restaurant industry, his experience as a director of hospitality technology leader OpenTable, and his deep understanding of today’s restaurant guest will be highly valuable to Olo as we continue to add new restaurant concepts to our digital ordering platform.”
As CEO of Union Square Hospitality, Meyer has developed some of New York City’s most celebrated restaurants, including Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, Blue Smoke, Jazz Standard, Shake Shack, the Modern, Cafe 2 and Terrace 5 (located in the Museum of Modern Art), Maialino, Untitled at the Whitney, North End Grill, and Marta. He is the author of Setting the Table (HarperCollins, 2006), a New York Times bestseller, and is an active national leader in the fight against hunger. Meyer has long served on the boards of Share Our Strength and City Harvest and serves on the executive committees of NYC & Co, Union Square Partnership, and the Madison Square Park Conservancy. He brings a wealth of restaurant technology experience to Olo as a prior director and board member of OpenTable, offering guidance as Olo continues to scale.
