In honor of Independence Day, DCI Cheese Company is unveiling “Red, White & Blues,” a patriotic-themed sweepstakes offering consumers the chance to win a trip for two to Washington, D.C. valued at $2,500.

The giveaway is sponsored by DCI’s Salemville brand, a full line of internationally renowned blue-veined cheeses. Traditional mail-in entry forms will be available at promotional displays in the specialty cheese section of participating retailers across the country from July 1–August 31, 2010. Contest rules and an online entry form will also be available at www.dcicheeseco.com.

Instant Redeemable Coupons (IRCs) will be offered throughout the promotion on select Salemville blue and gorgonzola cheeses including 4-ounce wedges and 4-ounce crumbled cups.

Salemville’s blue and gorgonzola cheeses are produced by an Amish community in Cambria, Wisconsin. The community collectively manages the company with an unwavering commitment to sustainable agriculture that is ingrained in every aspect of its members’ lifestyles. Cows are hand-milked twice daily without the use of machines or electricity, and milk is delivered to the factory in traditional 10-gallon milk cans.

Salemville’s full line of blue-veined cheeses has been recognized as one of America’s best, most balanced blue cheese brands and was recently acknowledged at the 2010 World Cheese Champion Contest as the best American-made blue cheese, ranking fifth after four imports among 41 entries.

Additionally, Salemville recently introduced Smokehaus Blue, an applewood smoked blue cheese. All Salemville cheeses are farmer-certified rBGH free, rich in calcium, and contain no preservatives or chemical additives.

This patriotic-themed promotion was a natural for us, combining an important summer holiday with one of our favorite artisanal cheeses.”

The “Red, White & Blues” contest is available to all legal residents of the U.S. and District of Columbia age 18 and older. Promotional displays will be located in the specialty cheese sections of participating retailers next to the Salemville products. Submissions will be accepted online through August 31, 2010, and by mail through September 7, 2010. One grand prize winner will receive a $2,000 travel agency gift certificate and a $500 cashier’s check.
