Del Taco Adds to Northwest Expansion Plans

    Industry News | July 12, 2001
Del Taco has formalized a development agreement with Sipac to build five new restaurants in Clark County, Wash., primarily in the Vancouver area.

This is the first development agreement for the Vancouver/Portland area for Del Taco since the company began targeting the Northwest for franchise expansion last year.

Over the past year, Del Taco has signed agreements for Central Washington, Eastern Washington, Montana, Northern Idaho, Bend, Ore., and Medford, Ore. in addition to the Vancouver pact.

"We're very excited to welcome Sipac to our growing franchise community in the Northwest,'' said Ron Petty, Del Taco president.

"This agreement puts us ahead of our targeted plans for franchise development in this region. We plan to continue franchise development throughout the Northwest to become one of the dominant forces there in the quick service category as we are in other Western and Southwestern states.''

This agreement is part of more than 30 franchise development agreements that have been signed in the past two years for an additional 200-plus restaurants across the United States.

Del Taco is a privately held company that operates, or franchises, more than 385 Mexican quick service restaurants throughout the United States. Del Taco is the second largest Mexican restaurant chain in the United States with individual restaurant sales volumes that exceed all other Mexican quick service competitors.
