Whittier, California, residents will get a fast casual barbecue option on Thursday, April 16 at 11 a.m., when Dickey's Barbecue Pit opens in the Santa Fe Springs Plaza. Local owner, Kevin Vuu is hosting a three-day grand opening celebration where the first 50 guests will receive gift cards ranging from $5 to $50.

"Dickey's Barbecue is taking off in Southern California," says Roland Dickey, Jr., CEO of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants Inc. "Kevin is a great new owner who will make a positive impact on our brand and the community he serves."

Friday, Dickey's Barbecue will have all day merchandise giveaways with t-shirts, sunglasses, koozies, and more. Saturday, radio station 104.3 MyFM will be on-site from noon to 2 p.m., where one lucky winner will receive a $500 gift card and three winners will win free barbecue for an entire year. Guests can also score a deal with $2 pulled pork barbecue sandwiches during the event. 

"I've been to a couple of different Dickey's Barbecue grand openings and they're a blast," says first time owner, Kevin Vuu. "I can't wait to see the line on opening day!"

Prior to opening his Dickey's Barbecue Pit, Vuu worked as a network systems administrator for the County of Los Angeles.
