NEC Display Solutions of America, a provider of commercial LCD display and projector solutions, received 2010 DIGI Awards for excellence in digital signage at Pei Wei Restaurants and Raleigh-Durham International Airport, the company announced.

NEC and Pei Wei were recognized in the “Retail Roll-out, National” category, while NEC and Raleigh-Durham won for “Best Digital Signage Deployment for Transportation.”

The DIGI Awards, sponsored by Digital Signage Magazine and The Digital Signage Group, recognize resellers, integrators and service providers who have gone the extra mile to ensure success for their clients, thereby furthering the digital signage industry as a whole.

“Winning two DIGI Awards is a distinct honor for our company,” says Mike Zmuda, director of business development for NEC Display. “Our work with Pei Wei and Raleigh-Durham reveals the unique requirements of every digital signage deployment and how forward-thinking organizations are changing the visual landscapes of their venues to improve the customer experience.”

In October 2009, Pei Wei completed its installation of NEC’s digital menuboards at 162 locations. Two 46-inch displays showcase the Pei Wei menu and branding, while a third display allows a design specific to each location. The 486 NEC displays give the restaurant the ability to test new menu items and also comply with U.S. regulations requiring the display of caloric and other nutritional information.

The nearly 400 NEC large-format displays at Raleigh-Durham International Airport are operated from a central location and were selected for their durability as well as easy maintenance and operation. The NEC displays’ low failure rate and ability to adjust to ambient light help the airport meets its customer service objectives from ticketing counters and airline gates to restaurants and baggage claim areas.
