Duck Donuts announced today expansion plans to bring and made-to-order donuts to Puerto Rico. In partnership with Puerto Rican natives Jorge L Ramos and Juan C Piñero, Duck Donuts Puerto Rico, LLC, the brand is set to develop three locations across the U.S. territory over the next three years, with its first location in San Juan Metropolitan Area.
“Our mission is to serve a warm, edible ring of happiness around the globe and our decision to expand to Puerto Rico allows us to be one step closer to attaining this goal,” says Russ DiGilio, founder and CEO of Duck Donuts Franchising Company. “We look forward to building a long-standing relationship with our new franchisees as they work towards successfully launching the Duck Donuts made-to-order experience in Puerto Rico, a market that offers a unique array of food and family customs.”
Business partners Ramos and Piñero, join the Duck Donuts family with more than 20 years of experience as engineers in the structural steel and tank fabrication, construction, project management, and real estate areas.
“We’ve been interested in investing in a new business area and a few months ago a friend told us about a warm, delicious donut with maple icing and chopped bacon that sparked our attention,” says Ramos. “After further researching Duck Donuts’ concept of made-to-order donuts and franchise opportunities, we knew this was a brand that would make a great addition to Puerto Rico’s welcoming and family-friendly culture.”
Duck Donuts specializes in warm and made-to-order donuts. Customers can create their own donut combination by choosing from a variety of coatings, toppings and drizzles, including traditional favorites such as chocolate icing with sprinkles and more adventurous creations such as maple icing with bacon. The family-friendly stores offer a viewing area where children and adults alike can watch their donuts being made. Duck Donuts also sells coffee, tea, donut breakfast sandwiches and now offers online ordering in many locations.
