Duck Donuts, known for serving warm, made-to-order donuts, is set to open its first location in Santiago, the capital city of Chile, on January 11. Russ DiGilio, founder and CEO of Duck Donuts Franchising Company (DDFC), Betsy Hamm, COO of DDFC and Marcial Dieguez-Acuna, CEO of OBX Alimentos SpA, celebrated with a commemorative official grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We are excited to officially open our first location outside of the United States in Chile, a key market for us as Chileans are known for enjoying their sweet treats,” says DiGilio. “We see enormous growth potential for Duck Donuts as we continue to actively seek qualified franchise partners to introduce and develop the brand in international areas of interest.”

Located at Av. Consistorial 2100, Peñalolén, Chile, this is the first Duck Donuts store for OBX Alimentos SpA. In May 2018, the group signed a master franchise agreement to open 10 units throughout Chile over the next four years. The Dieguez-Acuna family has a track record of more than 50 years of successful business ventures in Chile. Much of the success is due to their ability to bring unique American concepts and products to Latin America and adapt them to the local culture.

“Duck Donuts will become a significant player in the sweets industry in Chile,” said Marcial Dieguez-Acuna, partner of Inversiones Rio Potomac Ltd and CEO of OBX Alimentos SpA. “By offering a superior donut to current market offering, having a commitment to high standards and our strong partnership with our local community, we will be able to guarantee our success.”

Duck Donuts specializes in warm and made-to-order donuts. Customers can create their own donut combination by choosing from a variety of coatings, toppings and drizzles, including traditional favorites such as chocolate icing with sprinkles and more adventurous creations such as maple icing with bacon. The family-friendly stores offer a viewing area where children and adults alike can watch their donuts being made. Duck Donuts also sells coffee, tea, donut breakfast sandwiches and now offers online ordering in many locations.
