Meet Ruth. She’s a few months shy of 80. Ruth’s still working full time making and serving donuts and coffee in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She’s cheerfully served more than a million cups of coffee and doughnuts in her 25 years behind the counter. Ruth has a sweet reputation: she knows all of the customers and their orders. She hasn’t missed a day of work in years and trains employees younger than her grandchildren.

Pittsburgh Metro Dunkin’ Donuts today announced the 2010 Sweetest Employee winners. Ruth Cassella is one of 18 who will receive recognition on Sweetest Day, Oct. 16.

Annette Miller, owner of the New Castle Dunkin’ Donuts, calls Ruth her best employee and a real friend, claiming her dedication is an inspiration. “Ruth’s like family,” Mrs. Miller says. “She goes above and beyond every day with her kindness and cheerful attitude… She’s wonderful.”

Dunkin’ Donuts locations throughout the area are honoring their sweetest employees as well as all workers who put their customers first. They are giving away one free donut for any sweet employee accompanied by their employer all day Friday, Oct. 15.
