Dunkin’ Donuts, America’s all-day, everyday stop for coffee and baked goods, signed of a multiunit store development agreement with new franchisees Amit and Kalpesh Patel for Detroit, Michigan. The pair will develop four Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants and one multi-brand unit with Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops. Their first restaurant is planned to open in 2017.

Second-generation franchisees and brothers Amit and Kalpesh Patel grew up working at their father’s Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in Chicago and also have experience in the gas and convenience industry. Together, this team will manage and oversee operations for each of their new restaurants.

“We are excited to expand both Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins’ presence in Detroit and play an important role in the daily lives of people who live, work, and visit here,” says Amit Patel, Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins franchisee. “We have a passion and loyalty for both brands and look forward to opening our restaurants in the years to come.”

Dunkin’ Donuts franchise opportunities still remain available in Detroit as well as in Alpena, Flint, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Marquette, and Traverse City, Michigan. To help fuel additional growth throughout the state, special development incentives are available.

In an effort to keep the brand fresh and competitive, Dunkin’ Donuts offers flexible concepts for any real estate format including freestanding restaurants, endcaps, in-line sites, gas and convenience, travel plazas, universities, as well as other retail environments. Additionally, multi-brand restaurants that combine Dunkin’ Donuts with Baskin-Robbins under one roof offer even more opportunity to drive traffic during various dayparts from early morning breakfast and coffee all the way to after-dinner ice cream cones and ice cream cakes.

“Our enthusiastic and dedicated franchisees contribute to both of our brands’ growth, which has helped solidify our position as one of the fastest growing companies by unit count in the quick service restaurant industry,” says Grant Benson, CFE, vice president of global franchising and business development, Dunkin’ Brands. “We are thrilled that Amit and Kalpesh have chosen to help expand Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins’ presence in Michigan. We know these new restaurants will satisfy a growing consumer demand in the local communities they serve."

Dunkin’ Donuts’ has a new restaurant design that includes four distinct options for franchisees, each featuring variations in layout, color schemes, graphics, textures, furniture, and/or lighting. The designs enhance the current restaurant appearance, environment and layout to serve people all day long. Similarly, Baskin-Robbins has refreshed its look to be more inviting and showcases the brand’s legacy of ice cream innovation. Unlike other quick-service restaurants, Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins allow franchisees to select individual elements from several options, creating a restaurant design that reflects their personal tastes and preferences and best serves their brands, specific restaurant size, and location.

Dunkin' Donuts offerings include hot coffee, iced coffee, flavored coffees, lattes, macchiato, espresso, cappuccino, Dunkin’ Donuts K-Cup pods, Coolatta frozen drinks, donuts, muffins, bagels, breakfast and bakery sandwiches, and a DDSMART menu featuring better-for-you items. Baskin-Robbins offers guests a delicious range of creative ice cream flavors, custom ice cream cakes, ice cream sundaes, frozen beverages, and take-home frozen treats.
