Everytable, Los Angeles’ emerging social enterprise that seeks to make nutritious and delicious food affordable and accessible to everyone, and Post & Beam, the acclaimed Black-owned, South Los Angeles fine-dining establishment, have collaborated on a new Everytable menu offering, the Creole Chicken Grain Bowl. The new entrée celebrates Post & Beam’s award-winning cuisine, a blend of soulfully crafted dishes, and includes spice-roasted chicken, dirty rice (a savory blend of andouille sausage, brown rice, roasted sweet potatoes, red pepper, green onions and lemon), collard style kale, spinach, and Post & Beam-inspired chicken gravy.

The Creole Chicken Grain Bowl will be available beginning on February 4 in all Everytable storefronts and through the company’s meal subscription and delivery service that now extends throughout most of Los Angeles County.

Situated adjacent to the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, Post & Beam was awarded the prestigious Los Angeles Times Gold Award in 2020, named for the beloved Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold and which honors “culinary excellence and expanding the notion of what Southern California cooking might be.” Since it opened in 2012 the restaurant has been continually lauded for serving a healthy, scratch menu with roots in both the flavors of the American South and California.

Today, Post & Beam is owned and operated by Chef John Cleveland and his wife Roni Cleveland, who have been enduring and inspiring supporters of their community for many years working toward meaningful social change. During the pandemic, they have stepped up to feed vulnerable seniors in their Crenshaw community while also satisfying their loyal guests by adapting to a temporary take-out model. They look forward to pivoting back to a full-service model once the pandemic restrictions are lifted.

“Bringing fresh, quality ingredients to the South Los Angeles community has always been a part of our mission and partnering with Everytable helps us fulfill that mission,” says John Cleveland, chef and co-owner, Post & Beam. “Making healthy food accessible and affordable has been a challenge in this community and together we are tackling this problem at a time when it matters most,” added Roni Cleveland, a native of South LA and co-owner, Post & Beam.

Founded in 2016, Everytable is a multi-channel, fresh-prepared food business blending grab-and-go storefronts, a subscription delivery service, SmartFridges, and institutional food service supplied by a central kitchen with meals priced according to neighborhood income. Everytable, too, has been frequently recognized for its diverse menu of chef-made, affordable meals starting at $5.00, in addition to its fight for racial, wealth, social equity and food justice. During the pandemic, Everytable has provided more than 4 million meals as part of local emergency response efforts. The food company also recently launched an innovative Social Equity Franchise program to empower and enable marginalized entrepreneurs of color to own and operate their own Everytable storefronts through access to capital and real-world training and education.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for Everytable to partner with such an acclaimed restaurant that has been a staple in the community,” adds Sam Polk, CEO, Everytable. “Moreover, we celebrate and admire Chef John and Roni, who continue to inspire and be a resource for Black leaders and entrepreneurs in their community.”
