Fresh&co, New York’s homegrown farm-fresh eatery for health-conscious New Yorkers, announced that it will open three new locations in collaboration with Chelsea Piers in 2018. Debuting in the spring, the fast-casual restaurant group will bring its farm-to-desk experience to the Chelsea Piers neighborhood at Pier 60 and Pier 62 in Hudson River Park, as well as to Downtown Brooklyn at 265 Schermerhorn Street – its first in Brooklyn.
“Our burgeoning partnership with Chelsea Piers feels like a natural progression for fresh&co,” says George Tenedios, CEO and co-founder of fresh&co. “Since the very beginning, we’ve been committed to utilizing only pure foods free of synthetic fertilizers, antibiotics, pesticides and other additives – we support local purveyors who are committed to sustainable practices. Furthermore, fresh&co and the Chelsea Piers community have a shared dedication to promoting wellness while offering excellent customer service. Our like-minded approach to business makes the relationship a great fit.”
Located near the 23rd Street bus terminus, alongside Hudson River Park, fresh&co at Pier 62 will be an exciting destination for Chelsea Piers customers, neighborhood residents, and park visitors looking to enjoy a healthy meal. Additionally, fresh&co at Pier 60 is a cafe-style outpost within Chelsea Piers Fitness—a wonderful amenity for Fitness Club members.
The arrival of fresh&co at Chelsea Piers and the brand’s expansion to Brooklyn marks another milestone during a pivotal time of strategic growth. Newly launched is the Order Ahead fresh&co App for iOS and Android, making access to healthy meals even easier with pre-order payment and schedule-to-pick-up capabilities, all in 30 seconds or less. Additionally, in 2017, fresh&co acquired a 35-acre farm in Orient on the North Fork of Long Island, now known as fresh&co farms. Managed in collaboration with longtime partner, Dan Latham of Latham Farms, fresh&co grows produce and raises livestock on the property, supplying hyper-local seasonal fruits, vegetables, and pasture-raised poultry and pork to fresh&co’s New York City restaurant locations. In the past year, fresh&co has also opened three new locations: shops at 1381 6th Avenue and at Hudson Yards, as well as an outpost at the busy Canal Street Market.
Marked by Eat REAL as ranking in the top 25 percent of restaurants nationwide for its commitment to serving high-quality real food, fresh&co serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, offering a different and nourishing experience at all hours of the day. The full menu features a dynamic array of dishes, from breakfast to start the morning, to soups, sandwiches, signature salads, grain bowls, market plates, and gluten-free healthy treats to refuel during lunchtime, and more substantial options for dinner.
In addition to fresh&co’s signature and seasonal dishes offered at all locations, new menu items launching exclusively at Chelsea Piers include soft-serve yogurt, juices, smoothies and craft beer and wine at the Pier 62 location, as well as an expanded menu of juices and smoothies offered at the Chelsea Piers Fitness cafe. The Pier 62 location at Chelsea Piers is available for dine-in, takeout and catering.
Designed with maximum efficiency for quick and smart service, fresh&co’s keeps the focus on fresh, delicious food, while simple white interiors are accented with touches of green. The team hand-selected internationally acclaimed CCS Architecture to design the new fresh&co locations after a successful collaboration on the Hudson Yards outpost in 2017. The Pier 60, Pier 62 and Livingston Street locations will incorporate natural material elements, like wood and black steel. Committed to improving sustainable practices from construction to decor, conscious design is a priority. Like all fresh&co restaurants, the Chelsea Piers locations use FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified construction materials and are LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified.
“We are thrilled to welcome fresh&co to both Chelsea Piers New York and our new fitness club in Downtown Brooklyn,” says Chelsea Piers’ managing partner, David Tewksbury. “fresh&co shares our commitment to healthy living. Our customers, members and Hudson River Park visitors will love the variety and quality of their food. Their new location on Pier 62 will be a great addition to Chelsea Piers and the Hudson River Park.”
fresh&co will also continue its longstanding relationships with like-minded, community-driven organizations. From fruits and vegetables picked at their peak to humanely raised vegetarian-fed poultry, fresh&co sources from local family-run growers and local purveyors with shared values and standards of freshness and quality, including: Latham Farms, Satur Farms, Red Jacket Orchards, Hepworth Farms, County Line Harvest, Bald Eagle Farms, FreeBird Chicken, Plainville Farms and more. Homegrown in New York City, fresh&co also aims to feed and nourish every New Yorker, actively supporting and donating food, time, and money to Food & Finance High School, No Kid Hungry and Friends of Karen.
