Freshii has brought on three former NBA players as investors to help grow the area development territory of Houston, Texas.  The role of the players is to help raise funds to expand the brand’s footprint in the area and bring on more franchisees.

Harvey Catchings, former NBA player from 1974–1985 for various teams who now runs the NBA Players’ Pension and looks for investments for active and retired pro basketball players, contacted Freshii to explore investment opportunities. As he was evaluating some potential restaurant brands to invest in, he came across Freshii’s location at the Houston Galleria and was attracted to it due to its health nature and seemingly simple operations. Other former players that he brought in on the deal as well were Rathel Whittaker and Allen Leavell, both of whom have roots in Houston and have proven savvy in previous investment decisions.

Freshii is a leading fast-casual restaurant chain featuring custom-made green wraps, salads, quinoa bowls, and pressed juices. With over 100 stores open and 400 in development, Freshii now boasts units in 40 cities in 8 countries.

As the former players’ reside in the Houston area, they have an interest in seeing Freshii grow in the region, where the brand intends on opening approximately 20 locations throughout the city.
