Frutta Bowls opened its 49th store in Fairfax, Virginia on February 1, and will reach the 50-store milestone later this month with a planned opening in Newark, Delaware. This exciting healthy concept has been experiencing rapid growth, with 47 franchised stores and  2 company stores operational in less than 3 years.

The chain that was founded by a savvy young woman. Brooke Gagliano has a penchant for health and fitness and was inspired by acai bowl shops she visited on the West Coast. After graduating from college, she opened the first Frutta Bowls in Howell, New Jersey in 2016. Overwhelming demand led to a second company store in 2017, then 6 franchised stores that year. In 2018, 39 more franchised stores were added.

“I wanted to start a Superfood Café that would make these healthy and tasty foods available back home in New Jersey.  Now we’re thrilled to be serving our unique, superfood bowls, fresh fruit smoothies, oatmeal bowls, artisan toasts and organic coffee to guests in 15 states,” Gagliano says.

States where Frutta Bowls is currently located include New Jersey, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

In 2019, 13 additional stores are scheduled to open in current markets (New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky) and in the new region of Delaware. In Q-2, three of these will open in New Jersey (Wall, Jersey City and Park Ridge) and a fourth in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“Frutta Bowls is now seeking multi-unit area developers who want to join our family and help us build America’s premier Superfood Café,” saya Chris Ives, COO. “Our business strategy will be to build out current markets, then expand into new regions nationwide.”
