It was a celebration 10 years in the making. And when all was done, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop had a lot more than fond memories to show for its month-long anniversary festivities. The chain will put a major dent in childhood hunger by connecting hungry kids with 750,000 free meals.
Thanks to the generosity of its guests and a special bounce-back voucher, Fuzzy’s fundraising initiative throughout the month of July generated a $75,000 donation toShare Our Strength’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry campaign. Thanks to the power of the No Kid Hungry network, every $1.00 donated equals 10 meals for hungry kids.
“This was the first time we’ve done a system-wide fundraising campaign like this, and it was our first year to support Share Our Strength; so we really didn’t know what to expect,” says Chuck Bush, chief executive of Fuzzy’s Taco Shop. “I’m really thrilled the initiative was such a success, and I can’t thank our franchisees, our corporate team and, most of all, our awesome customers enough for supporting our effort. What a great way to help put an end to childhood hunger in America!”
Throughout July, customers at more than 65 Fuzzy’s restaurants nationwide were invited to make a $1.00 donation to feed hungry kids. In return, they received a voucher good for one free taco on their next visit.
Fuzzy’s restaurant in Euless, Texas, generated the most customer donations, raising over $4,200. In total, 17 locations collected more than $1,000 each for Share Our Strength, a national not-for-profit organization that works to ensure that no child in America grows up hungry.
