Charleys, known for its Charley’s Grilled Subs and Charleys Philly Steaks concepts, has recently rolled out its newest limited-time offer, the Spicy Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich.
This creation, available now through July 14, is derived from the winning sandwich from the company’s system-wide 2012 GrillMaster competition.
The GrillMaster was open to anyone working at any Charleys location worldwide and offered employees the chance to have their creation featured on the menu as a special limited-time offer.
“The Spicy Hawaiian Chicken sandwich adds a different twist to the Charleys menu,” says Dick Falcone, director of research and development. “The combination of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors creates a mouthwatering, ‘crave-able’ sandwich that sets it apart from anything Charleys has done in the past. It’s made with Charleys’ great all-white-meat chicken, savory ham, tangy Swiss cheese, and our signature Roasted Pineapple & Habanero sauce.”
The concept originated as the winner of Charleys 2012 GrillMaster competition and was optimized for flavor delivery and operational simplicity.
The GrillMaster winner, Michael Woodburn of West Point, Utah, came up with his recipe by experimenting with different sauce combinations while at home cooking for his family.
The new Spicy Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich is a variation of his design, which includes the notable sweet and spicy habanero sauce. His sandwich beat out hundreds of entries, including two other finalists in a live showdown at Charleys’ headquarters.
Charleys has locations in 47 states and U.S. territories and 20 countries. The Spicy Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich, which will be available throughout the U.S. and at domestic AAFES (Army and Air Force Exchange Service)locations, delivers on Charleys’ reputation for made-to-order, hot Philly cheesesteaks at nearly 500 locations across the globe.
