Groupon (http://www.groupon.com) welcomes summer with the announcement of its first national themed promotion, Burger Weekend, a three-day feature of local burger deals in every U.S. market starting on Friday, May 27, 2011, and running through Sunday, May 29, 2011.

To celebrate National Burger Month, Groupon has partnered with more than 350 top burger destinations across all domestic markets. Featured deals go live on Friday, May 27, at 12:01 a.m. local time and end on Sunday, May 29, at 11:59 p.m., honoring America’s favorite sandwich with unbeatable deals from local culinary experts.

Groupon will also give a look behind the apron with a series of short videos starring regional burger eateries, available at http://www.groupon.com/pages/groupon-loves-burgers.

“Groupon is kicking off summer with a fun national promotion celebrating an American icon, the cheeseburger,” says Aaron Cooper, senior vice president of marketing, Groupon. “We’ve handpicked our favorite burgers by city to celebrate the unofficial start of barbeque season across the country.”

In conjunction with this special Memorial Day weekend promotion, Groupon’s G-Team (http://www.groupon.com/g-team) encourages subscribers to support Not Alone (http://www.notalone.com), an organization that provides free and confidential mental health counseling services for veterans and their families affected by posttraumatic stress disorder and combat stress. Consumers can make donations in $1, $5, or $25 increments on their cities’ landing pages, with all pledges matched by an anonymous donor.
