Grown to Add Plant-Based Items from Marco Borges’ Book

    Shannon Allen and her husband, two-time NBA Champion Ray Allen, announced their first-of-its-kind 100 percent USDA organic certified fast food restaurant grown will add vegan menu items. grown will add official plant-based menu items from New York Times bestselling author Marco Borges’ new book—THE GREENPRINT—which goes on-sale nation-wide today.

    THE GREENPRINT: Plant-Based Diet, Best Body, Better World with an Introduction by JAY-Z and BEYONCÉ (Harmony Books; $27.99; on sale December 31) is a revolutionary lifestyle program and a movement for the world that empowers people to consume more plants and reap the myriad benefits plant-based living can provide.

    Of THE GREENPRINT’S 44-day program’s 60 recipes, grown will now feature 10 dishes from the book including: Black Bean & Kale Wrap, Sweet Potato Toast, Mushroom “Chorizo” Tacos, the coveted re-named “Somewhere over the Rainbow” Quinoa Bowl and the Chickpea “Holy Sh*t, Better than Tuna,” Sandwich.

    Shortly after their middle child, Walker, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, Shannon spent a very frustrating evening unsuccessfully driving up and down the highway searching for something delicious, nutrient dense, made with 100 percent USDA organic certified ingredients and with the convenience of a drive thru.

    That’s when she had her “ah ha” moment and grown was born.
