The Hamlet Group, Inc., a subsidiary of Prandium, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: PDIM), has announced plans for a month-long celebration to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its Hamburger Hamlet restaurant chain, highlighted by a book signing appearance with founder Marilyn Lewis.

Throughout October, Hamburger Hamlet® will celebrate the last five decades with its “Taste of the Classics” promotion by offering original prices on some of its delicious signature entrees and desserts. Featured items include 50s Onion Soup Fondue priced at 50 cents or 80s Hamlet’s Hot Fudge Sundae priced at $1.50.

In addition, on October 25th, special guests and customers will join in the celebration of Hamburger Hamlet’s 50th anniversary with Hamburger Hamlet co-founder Marilyn Lewis signing copies of her newly-released memoir, “Marilyn, Are You Sure You Can Cook? He Asked.”

“Hamburger Hamlet has been a popular destination for ‘simply marvelous food and drink’ since its inception in October 1950,” said Gayle DeBrosse, president of Hamburger Hamlet. “Today, we serve more than three million guests each year in our 14 locations throughout Southern California and the Washington D.C. area and we look forward to many more years of continued success.”

In 1950, Marilyn Lewis along with husband Harry, opened the first Hamburger Hamlet on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, California. The restaurant was a dream come true for both of them. The venture combined his love for Shakespeare (hence the name, Hamlet) and her love of entertaining. The first menu included gourmet hamburgers, signature soups, and decadent desserts, many of which still appear on the menu today.

“Harry and I congratulate Hamburger Hamlet on its 50th anniversary,” said Marilyn Lewis, co-founder of the chain. “It’s a tribute to still have such a wonderful name after so many years. It still amazes us that we started such a place.”

The Hamburger Hamlet restaurant concept began in Hollywood, California in 1950 and now operates 14 restaurants. Prandium operates a portfolio of full-service and fast-casual restaurants including Hamburger Hamlet, Koo Koo Roo, and Chi-Chi’s in the United States and also licenses its concepts outside the United States.
