The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce’s Aviation Committee today recognized HMSHost Corporation for its participation in the Hire L.A.’s Youth program. Hire L.A.’s Youth provides teens and young adults with jobs in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, giving them the opportunity to develop skills and enter the workforce in a productive manner. HMSHost, which creates shopping and dining experiences for travel venues, has participated in Hire L.A.’s Youth since its inception in 2007.

“The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce applauds HMSHost for its commitment to L.A. youth and developing the workforce of our region,” says Gary Toebben, president & CEO, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. “Hiring more than half of the 70 youth it has employed through the Hire L.A.’s Youth program for full-time positions, HMSHost is clearly showing the benefits of the program for both youth and employers.”

Teens from Hire L.A.’s Youth program joined HMSHost in full-time jobs as baristas, cashiers, hosts and hostesses, line cooks, production cooks, and shift leads.

“Participation in Hire L.A.’s Youth has been a significant resource to us in our local hiring efforts,” says Steve Johnson, HMSHost’s senior vice president of business development at Los Angeles Airport. “We know a positive work experience early on contributes to success throughout life, and we’re pleased to be a part of this program.”
