HoneyBaked Ham will replace its iconic gold foil with pink for the first time ever this October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Customers are invited to help “foil” breast cancer by assisting HoneyBaked in its support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) in its mission to provide free mammograms and diagnostic breast cancer services to underserved women.
“Everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by breast cancer,” says HoneyBaked Ham COO Maggie DeCan. “They are our mothers, sisters, daughters, co-workers, and customers. As a family-run business that caters primarily to women shopping for their own families, we are in a position to do some good and raise awareness in the communities in which we serve.”
During the month of October, $1 from each limited-edition pink foil–wrapped ham sold at participating HoneyBaked locations across the country will benefit the NBCF.
In addition, customers can participate in “Friends Foiling Breast Cancer Fridays” at HoneyBaked locations. Customers that wear pink and bring a friend for lunch on Fridays in October will receive buy-one-get-one-free sandwiches.
All month long, customers will have the option to add a donation of $1 or more to their purchase, directly benefiting the NBCF.
Fans of HoneyBaked’s Facebook page will also have the opportunity to nominate friends and loved ones who have been touched by breast cancer to receive a free family meal from HoneyBaked. One hundred families will be selected throughout the month of October.
“We’re excited to partner with HoneyBaked this year because they understand that early detection of breast cancer saves lives,” says Janelle Hail, NBCF founder and CEO. “Through their donation, we are able to offer free mammograms to those in need and spread a message of hope to women across the country.”
In 2012, donations helped the NBCF provide 25,681 free mammograms to women in need.
According to the American Cancer Society, more than 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. The key to surviving breast cancer is early diagnosis. Regular screening mammograms, breast self-exams, and yearly breast exams by your physician can help. NBCF helps save the lives of uninsured women by reaching them at a vulnerable time in their lives and ensuring their good breast healthcare.
