On the heels of the successful May launch of the first Hummus Shake, The Hummus & Pita Co. announced Wednesday the latest innovation to their lineup of hummus treats, Hummus Ice Cream. The brand’s first ice cream will be available at The Hummus & Pita Co.’s Chelsea location (585 Sixth Ave) beginning on National Ice Cream Day, this Sunday, July 15 and at all locations beginning August 1.
The Hummus Ice Cream is all natural and made with good-for-you ingredients like protein-packed chickpeas, real tahini, and pure vanilla. The four available flavors get their sweetness only from ripe dates and creaminess from either almond milk or coconut cream. The indulgent chocolate flavor is made with almond milk, while the fresh strawberry and cookies & cream flavors are made with creamy coconut milk cream and bananas. The banana almond flavor gets its silky texture from almond milk and ripe banana. Rich in vitamins and nutrients, these ingredients are gluten free, dairy free, and vegan. The rise in health-conscious eating and ingredient mindfulness has shifted the trend toward healthier desserts such as the Hummus Ice Cream and Hummus Shake, making it the perfect summer treat.
“We were so blown away by the popularity of the Hummus Shake that we knew we had to keep inventing new treats,” says founder Dave Pesso. “This all started when I developed the dessert hummus as a healthier alternative for my daughter, and the response from my family was so great that we wanted to share it with The Hummus & Pita Co. guests.”
Starting Sunday, July 15, the Hummus Ice Cream will be available at the Chelsea Hummus & Pita Co. location for $4.95 (8 oz.) and $3.95 (6 oz.). The ice cream will come to all New York City The Hummus & Pita Co. locations starting August 1.
