With quick-serves dashing to the morning daypart, two local Subway franchisees have partnered with BAB, Inc. (OTCBB: BABB) to offer Big Apple Bagels Xpress in their Oswego, Illinois, location.
The Xpress model was developed by BAB, Inc. to allow other concepts to add a breakfast day part to their existing menu. Restaurant chains or other concepts may select from a variety of BAB Inc’s branded products including its Big Apple Bagels, My Favorite Muffin, and Brewster’s Coffee.
The Oswego Subway Restaurant and Big Apple Bagels Xpress is the seventh Subway unit for franchisee Wasson Enterprises, Inc. The owners, Greg Wasson and Jim Wasson, have been Subway franchisees since 1994. They were attracted to Big Apple Bagels Xpress as an enhancement to the Subway restaurants menu offerings in part because of the wide range of breakfast menu items, including everything from bagels, proprietary cream cheese spreads, hot breakfast sandwiches, gourmet muffins, and specialty coffees. But the key factor is quality, according to Greg Wasson who says, “BAB Inc’s strong emphasis on the quality of ingredients makes Big Apple Bagels Xpress an attractive partner that meets Subway chains’ high standard.”
BAB, Inc. sees real opportunity in the growing popularity of the convenience breakfast segment and is willing to work with other chains to customize a program that fits their specific needs.
