Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc., franchisor of the quick-service sandwich chain with nearly 3,400 Arby’s restaurants worldwide, named James Lyons senior vice president of development.

Lyons joins Arby’s at a pivotal stage in the brand’s growth, including the launch of a major revitalization initiative to remodel restaurants across the system and plans to aggressively expand its footprint throughout the U.S. Lyons will lead all remodel and development initiatives across the Arby’s system.

“I’m excited about the passion and drive Jim will bring to the Arby’s brand,” says George Condos, Arby’s president and chief operating officer. “His extensive restaurant industry experience in all areas of development—including franchise management, design, real estate, construction, and operations—will greatly add to our growth and aggressive revitalization plans.”

Lyons is a seasoned executive with 30 years of leadership in the restaurant industry and a focus on franchising and business development. Prior to joining Arby’s, he served as the chief operating officer at Quiznos as part of the company’s turnaround efforts. Lyons also has held operational and development leadership positions with Popeyes, Burger King, and Denny’s.

Arby’s announced a new remodel program earlier this year along with plans to renovate 30 company-operated restaurants in 2014 and further significant remodels across the system in 2015. The addition of Lyons will help to accelerate growth and reinvigoration for the brand.
