It’s a long way from the Jersey Shore to Georgia, but Jersey Mike’s subs are making it possible for more southerners to experience a tradition born far to the north.
Four new Jersey Mike’s locations have just popped up; one in Georgia and three in North Carolina.
The location in Kennesaw, Georgia was opened by a native of the town where the first Jersey Mike’s was opened over four decades ago. “[This] allows me the opportunity to introduce the sandwiches I grew up with to the people of Atlanta,” says Dan Hopkins, partner in JM Hopkins, LLC. “Our plans call for an additional seven stores to be developed in Greater Atlanta. We are excited about being here and the success we have experienced.”
For Sheri and Twig Avant, their growing town of Stoney Creek, North Carolina seemed the perfect place for a Jersey Mike’s location. “My husband and I were fans of Jersey Mike’s sandwiches before we opened a franchise. The initial success we have experienced has been wonderful.”
Dunn, North Carolina also has recently welcomed the chain. Jimmy and Michelle Davis operate the store, which is one of several that Jimmy oversees for Subperior Sub Systems, Inc. “We enjoy the hometown feel of Dunn,” said Mr. Davis. “The character of the company comes from a small town. We feel Dunn characterizes those ideals and are happy to bring our subs to the community.”
The 194th Jersey Mike’s was opened April 10, 2000 in High Point, North Carolina. According to owner/operator Scott Hiatt, the existing location in the northern section of town was prospering so well that he felt a second store was in order. “I’ve lived in High Point for over thirty years and knew the southern part of town was in need of dining alternatives that served high quality products. I have been extremely pleased with the reception we have received.”
Recent research conducted by Cardinal Associates, a Dallas-based consulting firm, revealed that 99% of customers who experience a Jersey Mike’s Sub plan to return for another. It also indicated that 78% make a special trip to Jersey Mike’s for their favorite sandwich. This is strong support for why Jersey Mike’s wins many independent Reader’s Choice surveys across the country.
Jersey Mike’s offers customers a complete menu of hot and cold sub sandwiches all made-to-order. Nothing but the finest private-labeled meats and cheeses are used when creating their sandwiches. Bread is baked daily and is available in both giant size (14″) or regular size (7″). Roast beef is cooked on premise. Jersey Mike’s offers a variety of soups and salads and is available for catering.
Jersey Mike’s was founded on the Jersey Shore in 1956. the franchising company is privately owned by Peter Cancro, who at age 17 purchased the original location and has since turned it into a national franchise. The concept is based on the premise that if you serve the highest quality sandwich and become active in the community, you will be successful.
