Award-winning Birmingham barbecue hotspot Jim ‘N Nick’s has recently experienced one of its most significant internal growth surges.
Jim ‘N Nick’s is famously known for its Southern hospitality and dedication to providing traditional, quality barbecue by working with industry-leading pitmasters and containing no freezers and microwaves in their business model to ensure the most authentic experience for all guests.
The organization opened its first location of 2024 in Statesboro, Ga., with a plan to open an additional eight restaurants throughout the year. With the external expansion already on track, the business is growing just as fervently through its internal teams and structure as the beloved barbecue restaurant celebrates the promotion of three critical members of Jim ‘N Nick’s team: Chief Marketing Officer Brad Jacobus, Vice President of Accounting Lindsey Pourciau and Vice President of People Chaz Patrick.
With a combined 37 years of extensive history in the hospitality industry, Jacobus, Pourciau and Patrick have instilled proven innovative and aggressive business practices to promote viable brand growth.
The company has also recently promoted four general managers to managing partners, including Robert Hicks (Steele Creek, N.C.), Patrick Swinehart (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Jeaneau Edwards (Warner Robbins, Ga.) and Jerath Hartly (Tuscaloosa, Ala.).
The managing partner program was originally rolled out in 2021, providing general managers the ability to earn a premium salary, see their bonus potential increase by 25 percent and contribute to long-term incentives through the performance of their restaurant. Other notable perks include car and dining allowances. Jim ‘N Nick’s is thrilled to see a proven and successful growth model and incentives program that has continued to promote longevity within their workforce.
“I could not be more excited for the year to come,” says Larry Ryback, Jim ‘N Nick’s CEO. “While authentic, old-school BBQ, scratch-made trimmings and Southern hospitality have always been at the foundation of Jim ‘N Nick’s, none of that is possible without great people. I am honored that we’ve been able to offer these opportunities to such great people, and I can’t wait for all the things we’ll do together.”
The update in leadership marks a new chapter for the Southern staple as it proves its business model and hyper-localized community outreach practices supporting local charities throughout the footprint are both sustainable and prosperous. The organization is looking to continue its growth through location, menu and retail expansions over the next several months as they continue to solidify consumers’ need and craving for tradition and history.
