The coronavirus pandemic will keep many families from celebrating Mother’s Day in person this year, and data shows people are actively searching for virtual Mother’s Day alternatives, so KFC has cooked up a digital experience (via Messenger from Facebook) for families to enjoy a Mother’s Day meal together—virtually.

KFC has been helping families celebrate Mother’s Day since 1952 and, each year, serves up more than 400,000 buckets of chicken on mom’s special day. This year’s celebration may look different, but KFC wants to help keep the tradition alive by giving family and friends an opportunity to send mom a fun and personalized video chat dinner invitation to make her feel extra special and, most importantly, feel connected to those she loves.

Beginning Friday, you can visit Facebook.com/KFC to send mom and loved ones a custom invitation to share a Mother’s Day meal together, virtually. Through Messenger, a familiar and easy-to-use platform, this one-stop experience will allow users to interact with the Colonel himself to coordinate a meal time, personalize their invitation, and receive fun reminders to connect with their moms via Messenger video chat on Mother’s Day. With eight users visible at a time and endless sticker selections and effects, the Messenger experience is the one-click video chat everyone can enjoy.

For a limited time, KFC is offering free delivery on orders over $20 via Grubhub or by visiting kfc.com. So, fried-chicken fans can send mom a classic KFC $20 Fill Up to enjoy during their (virtual) date, or send her food for today and tomorrow, with the new $30 Fill Up deal.
