P. Terry’s Burger Stand announced that Todd Coerver accepted the position as CEO of the Austin, Texas, hamburger chain. Coerver is leaving Larkburger in Denver where he has been CEO for the last two years. Before taking the reins at Larkburger, Todd spent seven years at Taco Cabana where he was chief brand officer and then COO. Before his role at Taco Cabana, Todd spent 14 years at Whataburger where he ended his tenure as VP of marketing and innovation.
“I’m truly honored Patrick and Kathy have entrusted me to shepherd their very special company forward. I’ve always been a huge fan and I’m excited at the opportunity to return to Texas to help them write their next chapter,” Coerver says.
P. Terry’s is a 15-unit hamburger chain that opened its first store in 2005. The company recently debuted a new concept, Taco Ranch, which has two locations. All of P. Terry’s and Taco Ranch locations are in the Austin area. Co-founded in 2005 by Patrick Terry and his wife, Kathy, the small chain has risen to iconic status in the capital city. Recently named as the best burger chain in America by Southern Living magazine, P. Terry’s is consistently recognized for its high quality, reasonable prices, and great service.
When Coerver begins his new role March 1, Terry will step aside as CEO, a position he has held since 2005, and take the role as founder.
“Todd is the perfect person to move P. Terry’s forward,” Terry says. “We had an exhaustive search throughout the country by our friends at Clearpath Solutions. There were so many great candidates it was almost overwhelming; but from an experience and culture standpoint, Todd just fit like a glove on a hand.”
P. Terry’s opens its first out of Austin location this May in San Marcos, Texas and has scheduled four additional locations in Central Texas over the next 18 months. “We plan on leaving the area within two years and head to Houston. It will be a big step for us, but with Todd’s experience and the rest of our wonderful team, I’m confident we will maintain our quality and service and continue with our success,” Terry adds.
