Live Basil Pizza, a new Neopolitan fast-casual pizza concept, made its California debut in Los Angeles with the opening of its third location on Tuesday, January 21.  The new spot is located at L.A. LIVE’s Sports and Entertainment District. Live Basil Pizza will serve its made-to-order pizzas topped with organic ingredients including baby arugula, spinach, and its imported San Marzano Organic Tomato Sauce, along with salads and beverages.

Live Basil Pizza offers chef-suggested recipe pies, prepared in front of guests with customer favorites like the Mediterranean Chicken, a red sauce pizza with an Italian cheese blend, shaved Parmesan cheese, organic spinach, imported Greek olives, marinated peppers and olive oil. The Hot One features red sauce, Italian cheese blend, pepperoni, spicy giardiniera, jalapenos, red pepper flakes, and spicy oil.  Guests can also savor the regionally inspired L.A Pizza, served only in the Los Angeles metropolitan area and topped with arugula, truffle oil, and wild mushrooms. Live Basil Pizza also offers a selection of salads, including an Arugula, Lemon and Pistachio Salad, made with arugula, grape tomatoes, shaved Parmesan cheese, chopped pistachios, and lemon vinaigrette. For beverages, an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including wine by the glass and local craft beer, will be available.

“We are excited to introduce Live Basil Pizza to California and couldn’t be more thrilled that our first restaurant will be in the heart of downtown L.A. This fresh and modern approach to making classic Neapolitan pizzas is one of the biggest trends in dining right now,” says Rick Schaden, founder and chairman of Consumer Concept Partners. “The demand for organic, natural, authentic pizzas is the new way to enjoy one of American’s favorite foods.”

Live Basil puts an innovative spin on the pizza category. Each of the 11-inch pizzas is fully customizable. Each pizza is individually assembled and is baked in a 650-degree open-flame oven that bakes the pizza in 150 seconds. Live Basil also has gluten free and vegetarian options available.

“The fast-casual pizza segment is growing as people are discovering that the lost art of true Neapolitan pizza is now convenient, healthier than typical quick-serve pizza, and only about $8 per 11-inch pie. Live Basil is going to redefine the way people think about pizza here in America,” says Tom Ryan, managing partner and chief concept officer.  “We look forward to being the organic, fresh choice of pizza to Los Angeles. It’s a modern way of enjoying a truly authentic and traditional Italian pizza.”
